THE Rose of Mooncoin is in full bloom following the South Kilkenny parish’s brilliant All-Ireland junior hurling All-Ireland final victory.
The Croke Park final showdown against Ballygiblin of Cork was, however, no bed of roses as very talented and hugely committed teams asked each other thorny questions right up to when the Fat Lady sang.
It was nip and tuck all the way and it was hardly a surprise that a mere point separated the teams after an enthralling battle.
The final score was 0-22 for Mooncoin to 1-18 for the Rebels and while it took a long haul to separate the teams, it was Willie Coogan’s team from Mooncoin that deserved to bring home the bacon.
