KILKENNY Masters’ Over-40s basketball team has a home tie in the first round of a brilliant new Basketball sports initiative.
A National Cup has attracted 43 teams from all around Ireland at Over 40s (men and women) and Over 50s (men).
Our Cats are champing at the bit.
Pride and passion are the traits that inspire the golden oldies of the game and Kilkenny stalwarts are delighted to play host to The Vikings from Dublin on this Saturday
Match time and venue to scribble on the back of the hand that you don’t wash, or more appropriately in your comparatively new 2022 diary is 7.30pm at O’Loughlin Gaels Gymnasium.
The Dubs have a formidable outfit made up of former internationals and Super League players.
Kilkenny has a selection of talented players who cut their teeth in the local game.
The squad is looking forward to what promises to be a cracking evening of top class ball play.
Newly appointed Kilkenny head coach Damien Brett has been putting the players through their paces in recent weeks and competition is red hot for team places.

Even if the action is all about a big ball!
The match promises to be a cracker. Players and coach would love to see good support for the men in black and amber.
A home victory would be brilliant.
But win, lose or draw, you can wet your whistle and enjoy top class entertainment in Paris Texas Bar after the game.
There is an open invitation to all sportsmen and women.
Finally, a reminder that the annual Kilkenny Masters’ Basketball Tournament is on the weekend of March 4-6, with 29 teams taking part.

Mike Murray, the administrator for Masters basketball in Basketball Ireland, is delighted to see the competition come to fruition following the impact of Covid-19.
“It’s great to eventually get the Masters’ Cup up and running after several delays due to Covid,” he told Kilkenny Press.
“This event is a highly anticipated addition to the basketball calendar and it creates the opportunity for former players, most of them actively involved in various areas of the game, to compete at national level.”
