THE WEATHER man or woman did everything in his or her power to spoil the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Intermediate Hurling semi-finals at UPMC Nowlan Park on Sunday.
On an afternoon that would have been welcomed by ducks, four gallant clubs battled gamely in torrential rain that would have been more suited to water polo.
Drenched and tired, Danesfort and Thomastown would have been as happy as Larry, whoever he is, following deserved but hard earned wins over The Rower Inistioge and Carrickshock respectively.
The Fort, backboned by former county star Paul Murphy won by 1-15 to 0-12 and the Town joined them in the final with a 1-14 to 1-10 win.
The pair will now clash in the final at the same UPMC venue on Sunday week.
Meanwhile on Sunday next in the senior hurling final, again at an overworked Nowlan Park, Ballyhale Shamrocks meet James Stephens.
Ballyhale will be favourites to record their fifth successive victory over a Stephens side that has recovered from a poor league campaign and will plan to put it up to the South Kilkenny hurling kingpins.
