Table toppers Enniscorthy arrived in town without having dropped a point.
The Town left with their record intact.
In a hard fought match, Ennicorthy won the spoils with a goal in either half.
From the outset the visitors were dominant, and but for the ferocious work of Conor Comerford, Nigel Dagg and Jordan Quinn the match would have been over in the first 10 minutes.
A whirlwind opening from Enniscorthy left Kilkenny bamboozled.
It looked as though this could be a very bruising beating but despite conceding from a well worked short corner, Kilkenny showed fight and spirit to get a foothold in the game.
This fight was personified by Evan Matthews who worked tirelessly, breaking up Enniscorthy attacks and drove the Kilkenny men forward.
While the end of the first quarter felt like a reprieve, half time allowed the Kilkenny men to regroup.
When they emerged for the second half it looked as though a stern team talk had reinvigorated the team.
In a strange second half, Kilkenny dominated play and possession but couldn’t breach the Enniscorthy defence. With Derek O’Gorman now pulling the strings, an equaliser looked possible.
But the wind was knocked out of Kilkenny with another goal from a short corner.
Kilkenny now need to turn brave draws and defeats into victories.
