Kilkenny Hockey Club, County winners in the recent Texaco Support for Sport initiative, received €5,000 to be used to buy sports equipment for new starters, both adults and children.
One of almost 400 clubs countrywide to make application under the scheme, the club hosts mixed social hockey every summer and encourages everyone of any experience or age to go out and get active.
The club fields three senior women’s teams and two senior men’s teams supported by 337 underage members.
A cheque was presented by Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited, the company that markets fuel in Ireland under the Texaco brand.
