COUNTY FINAL Sunday in Kilkenny was special for several reasons.
There was a warm November reception for the members of the Bennettsbridge senior hurling squad that won the Kilkenny senior hurling championship of 1971.
The players were introduced to the crowd at half time and each warrior of another time got a rousing round of applause.
And remembered too were the players who had passed to their eternal reward.
The final was one to remember too for linesman John Bennett of the Tullogher/Rosbercon GAA Club who was marking 40 years as a referee and then linesman.
Along with his colleagues on the day, John did an excellent job.
