IT IS a beautiful piece of work to mark the 100th anniversary of Ireland’s Civil War.
A colourful 28-page calendar that includes pictures and stories of a sad confrontation when brother fought brother, is superbly presented by local man Jim Hayes.
The publication focuses on the conflict in Kilkenny, a microcosm of a country-wide battle that the stole the lives of so many great men and women.
The calendar will be launched by brilliant local historian and writer Jim Maher of White Bridge, a writing genius who penned a number of superb books on Irish history.
The launch will be at the Club House Hotel, Patrick Street on Tuesday next, November 29 at 8pm.
Organiser Jim Hayes told Kilkenny Press that there will be a warm welcome for all ages interested in Irish history.
The calendar, excellent value at €12, will also be on sale at the Book Centre, High Street, Khan’s Books, James’s Street, Bargain Books and Porter’s; also in Freshford, Castlecomer and Callan outlets.
